In line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council Modon Properties, this masterplan project spans over 51 million square meters, representing a significant portion of Abu Dhabi’s urban expansion. It will feature residential communities with panoramic views of Abu Dhabi city and its waterfront, nestled on top of the hills rising up to 50 meters above ground level.
This comprehensive plan is geared towards promoting sustainable living, and providing world-class sports facilities in a prime location. Chairman Jassem Bu Ataba Al Zaabi emphasized the pivotal role of this development in positioning Abu Dhabi as a premier global destination for residents, tourists, and athletes alike. The masterplan incorporates upscale residential communities with breathtaking views, augmenting the cityscape with 53.5 kilometers of coastline and 16 kilometers of beautiful beaches.
Exciting amenities such as Velodrome Abu Dhabi, Surf Abu Dhabi, and many more sports and leisure facilities, including the largest urban park in Abu Dhabi and a sprawling 220-kilometer network of cycle tracks, further elevate Hudayriyat Island’s allure. With its strategic location and diverse offerings, Hudayriyat Island is poised to captivate both local and international audiences.
1- Surf Abu Dhabi
Surf Abu Dhabi, set to open in early 2024 on Hudayriyat Island, is set to become the world’s largest surf park, revolutionizing water sports. As part of the Modon masterplan, it features record-breaking attractions like the world’s longest ride and largest barrel as well as the largest man-made wave pool. With resident surf coaches and advanced artificial wave technology, promising an adventure for thrill-seekers and aspiring surfing legends alike. It promises a thrilling experience for surfers of all levels, from beginners to professionals. In collaboration with the Kelly Slater Wave Company, it is set to redefine the surfing experience. The anticipation is high as the countdown to its grand opening begins.
2- Velodrome Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi’s cycling landscape is set for a major transformation with the upcoming Velodrome Abu Dhabi project. Scheduled to open in 2025 on Hudayriat Island, this cutting-edge facility will feature the region’s first UCI Category 1 indoor cycling track, accommodating up to 3,500 spectators. With its innovative design, including a rooftop track connected by a 600-meter cycling ramp, cyclists will enjoy beautiful views of the island and Abu Dhabi skyline. Beyond hosting international championships, the Velodrome aims to foster a vibrant cycling community through various events, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s recognition as the “City of Bicycles” by the Union Cyclist Internationale (UCI).
3- Hudayriyat Urban Park
Covering more than 2.25 million square meters, the park outlined in the Modon’s latest masterplan in Hudayriyat Island will stand as the largest urban park in the emirate. Upon completion, it will serve as a haven for outdoor adventures and nature encounters. The park will include various sections, such as elevated cycling track, an eco-tourism platform, and a mangrove walk. It will feature an eco-farming area, dining options, playgrounds, and an events valley. It will also incorporate luxurious residential properties nestled within and around two hill communities, offering scenic views of Abu Dhabi. The city will see a significant expansion of its coastline, with an additional 53.5 kilometers, including 16 kilometers dedicated to new beaches.
